These three vases reference the Moirai, the three Fates of Greek mythology who govern the course of human life. From left to right they depict Atropos, Clotho and Lachesis. The first vase shows Atropos, the Fate who cuts the thread of life, represented by hands grasping and severing a snake, a symbol of vitality and renewal abruptly brought to an end. The central vessel references Clotho, the spinner, whose role is to begin life’s thread, suggested through imagery of creation, growth and unfolding forms across the surface. The final vase depicts Lachesis, the measurer who determines the length and path of each life. Here birds and celestial symbols evoke movement, destiny and the unseen forces guiding human fortune. Together the three vessels form a narrative set, translating the ancient myth of fate into symbolic ceramic form.
