This vase draws on the unsettling edge of spring folklore, where renewal and unease often appear side by side. The surface is filled with winding plants, birds and small masked figures that echo seasonal rituals celebrating the arrival of spring. Among the imagery, girls appear holding hands in a chain, their faces hidden behind masks while they grasp tightly onto birds, preventing them from flying away. The scene hints at folk customs where animals, costumes and circular dances symbolised the turning of the seasons, yet it also carries a darker tension. The captured birds suggest a fragile balance between nature and control, while the masked figures evoke the eerie anonymity of traditional spring festivals, where joy, superstition and quiet menace often coexist.
