Everything’s Coming Up Roses Tumblers

These tumblers were made as demonstration pieces for my sgraffito workshops, showing the difference between carving a design in positive and negative relief. Each pair features the same imagery, including roses, moons and foliage, but one version is carved to leave the motif raised while the other removes the background to reveal the image. The contrasting blue and white surfaces highlight how the same design can shift dramatically depending on what is carved away.
