Weaving Visions

The cyclical repetition of Weaving Visions calls to mind a gradual building up of material, filling the skeleton of the loom line by line, thread by thread. The playful, eye-catching circles are intricately braided and coiled with recycled or donated yarn, often breaking the circular motion as a reminder of the mathematical grid underlying the circular fluidity.

An attentive observer will notice the binding tension of the warp - a rigidity that makes possible the melting of one thread into another. The viewer is invited to reflect on the combination of restrictive grids and intuitive movement, and the opportunity of intentional repetition through a rigid rule-bound system which can offer relief and may end in the creation of something unexpected.

Weaving is a wommon's healing. A thread runs universally through all events, tying them together in various patterns, fate can be sealed off at the vulnerable points of its course, stopped, turned, averted. Weaving itself has been considered a ritual act, a secret guarded closely. Weaving Visions offers portals into reflecting on the hypnotized self, on trauma, anger, sadness, and ultimately on survival.

Fibre Friends

These fibre sculptures are fun, colourful textile companions that were made to evoke a joyful and friendly presence. The larger sculptural wall-hangings eventually turned into smaller portable jewellery pieces.
